Warts and Verrucae

Warts and Verrucae

Warts are a common skin problem caused by a viral infection. It affects children, men, and women of all ages. Verruca is the name given to a wart affecting the sole of the foot and the word for than one is verrucae.

Having warts and verrucae is not dangerous, but they may affect confidence, cause pain or bleeding, catch on things, and may spread.

The treatment can be simple and effective. However, in some people, it can take a long time to clear unless the treatment was holistic and went beyond treating the skin problem itself. In fact, there are more than 1000 different ways to treat warts and verrucae. This reflects the difficulty in treating some cases.

Management plan

  1. Confirm the diagnosis by a healthcare professional.
  2. You may leave without treatment, as the body can clear itself. However, it could spread.
  3. Over the counter treatment
  4. Freezing with liquid nitrogen (cryosurgery) as an alternative to surgery. We recommend this as a first-line clinic treatment.

We offer wart and verrucae removal with liquid nitrogen, a popular and evidence-based treatment for skin tags. Part of the reason it is so popular is that it required no surgery and no injections!

In fact, it is for most people completely pain-free. It is also called “freezing therapy”, because all it involves is spraying a cold liquid onto the base of the wart ir verruca. Usually, the only discomfort is a cold sensation on the area, which is expected (the spray is -200°C, after all!).

  1. Improving your immunity. We have on-site a wide range of supplements to help your immune system fight the virus from within.
  2. Surgical excision.
  3. Electrosurgery (diathermy).
  4. Focal chemical peeling
  5. Laser surgery
  6. Measures for prevention and reducing new warts. This is not guaranteed to work. However, we can advise on improving your immunity to hopefully get fewer or no warts in the future.

We mainly recommend freezing with liquid nitrogen as a first-line treatment together with improving your immunity to fight the virus from within as well as the outside.

When ready, please call Alternatives Clinic on 01908 526524 and book your appointment.

Practitioners you can trust

All of our staff are fully qualified and insured professionals. Our nurse treatments are carried out by Diane Mason, who has spent 15 years as a dermatology nurse and performed countless liquid nitrogen treatments in that time.

If, on the other hand, you choose to see a dermatologist, Dr. Bassam will treat you personally. He is the owner and medical director at Alternatives Clinic. We believe that quality healthcare should be affordable for everyone, so even treatments with Dr. Zeina are competitively priced compared to nurse treatments elsewhere.
