Seborrheic Keratosis Treatments

Seborrheic Keratosis Treatment

Seborrheic warts also are known as seborrheic keratosis and wisdom warts.

Wisdom warts are extremely common, harmless wart-like spots that appear during adult life as a sign of skin aging.

They occur in females and males, typically starting in the 30s-40s. The number per individual can vary from one spot to hundreds.

They are common and harmless, and they usually do not need treatment. However, they can affect confidence or cause inconvenience if they are catching on clothing or jewelry, or if they become caught while shaving.

Management plan

  1. Confirmation of the diagnosis by a health care professional
  2. You may leave without treatment, as it is harmless. However, we recommend you take photos regularly and seek medical advice if there are any changes or symptoms.
  3. Freezing with liquid nitrogen (cryosurgery) as an alternative to surgery. We recommend this as the first line of treatment.

We offer Seborrhoeic wart removal with liquid nitrogen, a popular and evidence-based treatment for Seborrhoeic warts. Part of the reason it is so popular is that it required no surgery and no injections!

In fact, for most people, it is pain-free. People also call it “freezing therapy”, because all it involves is spraying a cold liquid onto the wart. Usually, the only discomfort is a cold sensation on the area, which is expected (the spray is -200°C, after all!).

  1. Surgical excision
  2. Electrosurgery (diathermy)
  3. Focal chemical peeling
  4. Laser surgery
  5. Prevention. This is not guaranteed to work. However, we can give advice which may help reduce the number of wisdom spots in the future.

We mainly recommend freezing with liquid nitrogen as a first-line treatment and an alternative to surgery.

Practitioners you can trust

All of our staff are fully qualified and insured professionals. Our nurse treatments are carried out by Diane Mason, who has spent 15 years as a dermatology nurse and performed countless liquid nitrogen treatments at that time.

If, on the other hand, you choose to see a dermatologist, Dr. Bassam will treat you personally. He is the owner and medical director at Alternatives Clinic. We believe that quality healthcare should be affordable for everyone, so even treatments with Dr. Zeina are competitively priced compared to nurse treatments elsewhere.
