We offer skin tag removal with liquid nitrogen, part of a family of treatments called cryotherapy. This is a popular and evidence based treatment for skin tags. Part of the reason it is so popular is that it required no surgery and no injections!
In fact, it should be completely pain free. People often call it “freezing therapy”, because all it involves is spraying a cold liquid onto the base of the skin tag. The only discomfort you should feel is a cold sensation on the area, which is to be expected (the spray is around -200°C, after all!).
All of our staff are fully qualified and insured professionals. Our nurse treatments are carried out by Diane Mason, who has spent 15 years as a dermatology nurse and performed countless liquid nitrogen treatments in that time.
If, on the other hand, you choose to see a dermatologist, Dr Bassam will treat you personally. He is the owner and medical director at Alternatives Clinic. We believe that quality healthcare should be affordable for everyone, so even treatments with Dr Zeina are competitively priced compared to nurse treatments elsewhere.
Dr Bassam Zeina, MD, PhD
“I am a senior doctor fully licensed by The General Medical Council, with membership in The Royal Society of Medicine and the British Association of Dermatologists. My specialism is dermatology, with over two decades of experience treating skin in both a medical and cosmetic capacity. For the last 15 years, I’ve been helping people feel more confident in themselves through non-surgical cosmetic procedures.”
* treatment usually happens in the same treatment session, but is subject to agreement between you and your clinician that the problem is suitable for liquid nitrogen treatment and that you understand the side effects (no matter how minimal they usually are).
Kits are available for freezing skin tags at home, but bear in mind that the temperature they reach is not as low as liquid nitrogen. This means that multiple sessions are often required, and so results are often slower.
Many other home treatments exist, but they can lead to scarring and infection if not done properly (some people suggest cutting or even ripping them off!).
On the contrary, a recent study found that cryotherapy from a qualified physician, rarely results in scarring. There are risks involved with any medical procedure, but seeing a trained medical professional keeps these at a minimum. This is especially important for sensitive areas such as your face and neck.
No matter who you decide to see, we believe our prices are competitive. Just one session is usually enough to treat skin tags. However, if you do require a follow-up, this will be at a 30% discount, making it even more affordable.
Choose between treatment with a fully qualified and highly experienced nurse, or our dermatologist with 28 years of experience.
